The demolition involved the removal of an existing 300,000 SF cast-in-place parking garage situated in the center of North Carolina’s largest teaching hospital. As part of the project, there was a need for fiber reinforcement of the existing concrete floor, and a 14,000-pound robot was carefully placed on an elevated floor. This project was intricately connected to an active hospital surgical area. To engage and entertain young patients, an excavator was creatively painted to resemble a dinosaur. The project received recognition and was honored as the WINNER of the Urban Demolition Award at the World Demolition Awards in 2023.
