The city of Austin, Texas began a strategic initiative to redevelop and expand the existing Convention Center, located in downtown Austin. The goal was to deliver a larger, more efficient facility on a smaller footprint. This required demolishing the existing Convention Center. Trifecta was chosen to take on the challenge.

The City of Austin has been contemplating redeveloping the existing Convention Center for over a decade. They wanted to create a more active and community-friendly event space that took up less surface area and opened up more options for rentals. The completed project is estimated to generate an additional $285 million in annual local economic impact and support over 1,600 additional jobs.

Trifecta took a careful and technical approach, balancing the need for a rigorous timeline with the preservation of important artifacts. Over the course of demolition, the materials of over 12 buildings were carefully dismantled and preserved for reuse in the new Convention Center, including granite steps, glass art panels, custom metal facades, and 85 sixty-foot trusses.
